Dior 2011 Collection – New Additions

Dior eyewear team must be the hardest working from all. This year they have released over 40 new styles in various categories: trendy, retro and classic. The company has taken a utility approach to release many models to appeal to people of different styles, ages and even budgets. We can’t pass on mentioning the color versatility of the brand. Some models come in as many as 6-7 colors such as Dior Paname or Dior Ladycat 1/S. We talked earlier about eyewear industry trends and how companies are not following two seasons Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer- they are releasing new models few at a time adding them to the year collection. This makes sense because glasses don’t have a season – you wear them all year long every day and sun is shining no matter what. In line with this strategy please, enjoy a few new additions to Dior 2011 eyewear collection:

Tiffany 2011 Glasses Collection – A Guide To Elegance

Tiffany is relatively new to eyeglasses business. Their first collection launched in 2009 and right there and then it took a solid spot in jewelery eyewear. A splash was made with sunglasses decorated with real Tiffany diamonds and logo made out of sterling silver. Many are still looking for these models that unfortunately are all sold out. But…! 2011 collection does have appeal due to super thought through feminine shapes, charm embeddings and Tiffany signature green color. Enjoy!

Sunglasses Trends 2011

Following the overview of ophthalmic frame trends for 2011, we can’t wait to tell you what’s new for sunglasses. Unlike prescription glasses, that still in the bottom of mind are considered health items by many, sunglasses are all about fashion. General fashion trends are often passed on to sunglasses with each season. Sunglasses are also often worn by models during the runway shows. Here are some notable similarities for Spring 2011.

Cat Eye

Cat Eye is super big this season. There were few first movers last year testing the market. This year almost every fashion forward brand name has their version of cat eye. These shapes have a potential of becoming all time classic and we feel will stay current for the next 5 years at the very least. Presently you will find many variations of cat eye, more balanced and fitted for different face types. Some sunglasses models are even made with catty color to emphasize the idea – this for real fashionistas.

Unisex Rocks

This year we noticed that there are much more unisex options than before. It is possible that the trend got influenced by slowing economy where ladies had to say no to many luxuries. Also, with continuous increase of woman joining men at work and putting on pant suits, more sunglasses are made to compliment this style.

Printed Patterns

You already have a black pair of sunglasses, a tortoise and even white. Now is time to get something less conservative. Get printed pattern. Your favourite square or rectangular shape is still on, but with a stripy or animal print pattern it will look updated and so Spring 2011.

Gucci 3190/S Roberto Cavalli RC587S

Oversized Minimalism

Sunglasses have been getting bigger every year in the past few years. You hardly can even find narrow rectangular shapes and even those are kept mainly to fit prescription lenses. Anything fashion is now big. Big rounds, big squares, big aviators, big shields. What is notable this year is the minimal decor. Many models of 2011 are kept simple, with little decoration and narrow temples.

Something for Men – Heavy Bridge

Heavy bridge is big for men frames in 2011. This is probably one of distinguishing elements on homme-only frames. And even with unisex being so big this year, these frames won’t look good on many women, so men got something for themselves. Look for heavy bridge when shopping for men sunglasses this year.

Gucci Sunglasses Spring 2011 Collection

Following a very successful 2010 year, Gucci is continuing to do designs that are both suitable for many people and fashionable. In 2011 Gucci took a safe path in choosing colors. Black and their best seller Tortoise, make most of their collection color tone and will suit people of any skin and hair color. Logo design has not changed since last year, and bright gold or gunmetal silver is still a signature on most of the frames.

Here are some 2011 frames that you should have a look at before shopping for any other brand.

Cat EyeCat Eye Gucci 2891 and Gucci 3162. These are the only cat eye frames from Gucci this year. Again, Gucci tries to remain conservative catering to majority, but as a fashionable brand they did follow the 2011 cat eye mania and released their version of it, one metal and one plastic.

Bold Square Shapes are dominant. We already see that ladies enjoy what was supposed to be men models, among them Gucci 1648, Gucci 1945, Gucci 1641 and Gucci 1943. These models come in a variety of colors and will look amazing on both guys and girls.

Feminine Bold Squares. Of course, ladies first… so Gucci, understanding that ladies love big logos and wrapped around fitting, released these models to satisfy beauties that want latest 2011 square trend. Gucci 3170/S, Gucci 3170/N/S, Gucci 3169/S and Gucci 2892/S.

Bold Aviator. This is not a sweet, classic aviator any more. It is a military inspired, wide, thick aviator that is covering bigger part of your face. Gucci, along with Dior and Prada are setting this trend for 2011. If you want something new, here your go: Gucci 1639, Gucci 1944, Gucci 1566 and Gucci 1889.

Updated 2010 models include Gucci 3159, Gucci 3161, Gucci 3163, Gucci 3164. Last year Gucci totally rocked outselling big brand names such as Chanel. This year they are clearly set to win and instead of reinventing the wheel they updated a number of models without any trend following, just keeping their main colors and shapes that sold well.

The History of New Look From Dior

Christian Dior had an incredible intuition that led him to ultimate success. His first couture house opened in 1946, after the WWII. He was able to capitalize on a depressed mood of post war France and give women a new image. His friend back in childhood once said “The magic name consists of words God and Gold”.

The Parisian elite was simply stunned when the 90 models started to defile the runway decorated with pale gray and white stucco in the style of Louis XVI. Rumours of this collection  swell quickly throughout France. Christian Dior at the time was an ordinary tailor in a model  house Lucien Lelong.

Sculpted shoulders,  thin waist, rounded hips, developing long skirts, a veil that hides your eyes, gloves and a light step – conveyed the image of the femininity, which was lacking during the war. Almighty editor in chief of Harper’s Bazar Caramel Snow enthusiastically declared: “Dear Christian, this is totally new look!” That was enough to ensure that expression was used throughout the world.

Although Christian Dior died soon of a heart attack at age of 52, he died as famous as Ghandi. He was an admired “boss”, generous and happy. He led a quiet life trying to keep his private life away from the public. He had many friends and had tight relationships with many of them. “Women will help you succeed” one friend once said. Christian Dior learnt to listen to what people say and analyze. He tried to be ahead of the others.

Christian Dior, born in 1905 in Normandy, was a son of a rich chemical fertilizer factory owner. His mother, a woman of very strict traditional  background, didn’t get along with her son very well. When she ordered to grow a garden around their family mansion, Christian volunteered to help or order to find a common interest with her. Gardening turned into a lifelong love of flowers. He used flowers in his designs and lily, his favourite, to pluck the buttonhole instead of an ordinary button.

Since that time he became interested in the style of Louis XVI, light and bright, which made decorations in a private hotel on the Dior Montaigne Avenue. Because of his disapproving mother who wanted him to be an architect or a diplomat, Dior lived in the shadow of his creative friends, even after opening his own art gallery sponsored by his father. A  present came with one condition – the designer was not allowed to hang out the name of Dior on the facade, because Christian’s mother was ashamed of his son.

After 1929, when his family lost their wealth, a hard time began for Christian Dior – a life in the house without electricity, running water and a leaking roof. Freed, to some extent from the power of the  controlling personality of his mother, he finally decided to take up design.

So he lived, working hard until age of 40 when Marcel Boussac knocked as his door offering a position in his company. Dior’s talents shined to their fullest and his genius design skills got combined with his business ego. Today, sixty years later, Christian Dior is a leading fashion house, now part of Mot Hennessy Louis Vuitton. Cocteau was right, Dior name is worth a name of Gold.

Today John Galliano is a lead designer of Haute D’Dior. He has been working in this position for 20 years. Energetic Galliano, just like Christian Dior, came out by surprise and has proven to be worthy of continuing Dior tradition. Both Dior Sunglasses and John Galliano Sunglasses are available in our store along with prescription Dior Eyeglasses frames. Some of the most beautiful are for preview below.

Have you ever wondered what other color glasses you like come in? Many retailers won’t tell you the truth because they want to sell what they got in stock. We sorted all frames by the color, so you can now search sunglasses not only by shape and material size, but also by color. To make your life even easier, we let you sort by brand further. Say, you want black Guccis or black Diors, you can do this with one click of a button at Eyeinform store.

Dior Sunglasses – For Sophisticated Eyes

Dior sunglasses have always been carrying image of chic. It was fundamental to Christian Dior style to use lots of jewelery in his ready-to-wear collections, even during the tough times of post war recovery. Dior sunglasses collection to date remains true to this idea. Christian Dior was also master of shapes and silhouettes, and similarly Dior sunglasses collection has a variety of beautiful shapes that are timeless and in the same time decorative and elegant.

Gucci Ladies Sunglasses – Must Haves

Gucci has hit a popularity record in 2010 with their Gucci ladies sunglasses. After many years in business, Gucci decided to play it safe in a recession and avoid bold experimenting with shapes, sizes and colors. Not that they went conservative, they simply applied more thinking into fitting last year to make each pair of sunglasses sit well and look 100%. Of course, each pair conveys Gucci style and brand – premium and chic.

Sunglasses for Justin Bieber

It has been reported that Justin Bieber was shopping for sunglasses in Kitchener, Ontario on the Boxing Day this year. For those who don’t know, Boxing Day in Canada is equivalent to Black Friday in USA.

We are very pleased that he has been shopping for glasses as he, along with many other celebrities, understands that sunglasses is one of the major fashion items one can wear. For people like him glasses come with the value add function – they block  flashlight from cameras. Of course wearing sunglasses on stage all the time is considered rude – there got to be some eye connection with the fans, but no one blames Justin for wanting more protection during the casual walk on the streets of Kitchener :)

John Galliano JG0017

Ok, now about styles, we think Justin will look good on this John Galliano JG0017 – they will add more masculine touch to his pretty face. In the same time they will go well with his casual, sporty style making it more glamorous.

Prada PS 52ES

He will look good in these Gucci shields GG 2800 – they will create cool vibe and add almost this “untouchable” feel to his appearance. Same result will be achieved in these Prada shields PS 52ES .

This classic aviator Tom Ford FT0035 will be good on the stage because of the lighter lens. Perhaps this is a walk around having more exposed eye while still wearing sunglasses. Same result will be achieved in these Gucci 1609

John Gallliano JG0019

But if our beloved Justin Beieber wants people to stop talking badly about his style, he should be pulling off something unconventional and fashionable, for example these Galliano’s JG0002 or even these JG0019

In either case, he should be shopping online to avoid the mess with paparazzi. Eyeinform is perfect for that.

Tom Ford – Master of Minimalism

Since 2005 when Tom Ford announced his own brand, he launched clothing, perfume, accessory collections. His eyewear collection however made the most buzz.

Unlike many other designers, Tom Ford completed his education in architecture. He is a person with extreme learning

ability – after just few years of working at not so mainstream Ellis Perry, starting in PR, he took on the challenge to reinvent Gucci as a Creative Director – not something you’d expect from an American bred architect.

TF5150

Tom Ford eyewear is designed very much on principles of architecture – shape is everything. When other brands such as

Roberto Cavalli, Dior, Gucci etc are concentrating on decoration of the temple – side of the eyeglasses, Tom Ford is concentrating on the frame – front of the eyeglasses. One may think that many frames look similar, but after you imagine your face in it, you will realize how much difference a slight deviation of an angle can make.

TF5178

His unique factor is simplicity, just unambiguous genius simplicity. You will find every simple shape in Tom Ford sunglasses and Tom Ford eyeglasses: square, just like TF5147, rectangular just like TF5149, oval, round and even bow shape just like TF0175. In fact Tom Ford eyeglasses are the only ones that have aviator shape in prescription variant. He is the only one who has a perfect round shape in plastic material just like TF5150. I would however note, his style is not in primitivism, it’s in minimalism. Frames are made with lots of thinking about face curvatures making sure glasses fit and are comfortable. There are many bridge and eye sizes satisfied in both 2009 and 2010 collections.

TF0131

We only wish he would have more options for ladies and hopefully in 2011 it’s all yet to come.
